2019: eTranzact fronts Gh-Link Prepaid cards in Ghana to Make Cashless Transactions Easier

In 2019, eTranzact expanded her horizon to make cashless transactions safe and easy within and outside Ghana.

According to Dr Valentine Obi, the Founder and Group CEO of eTranzact, Ghana's march toward a cashless economy has been one of the most successful executions in Africa in recent years.

Dr Obi, speaking during the unveiling of the new gh-Link EMV prepaid card in Accra, stated that Ghana has the largest financial inclusion rate in West Africa due to the broad adoption of electronic payment methods such as Mobile Money Services.

Although the Bank of Ghana has provided an appropriate system to foster the majority of Ghanaians to utilize electronic payment systems, he believes that such services must have the interest of all Ghanaians and inexpensive to persuade the majority of Ghanaians to use.

Dr Obi claimed that using cash is the most expensive method of doing business and that the launch of the eTranzact gh-Link card will lower costs and improve efficiency in other financial transactions.

George Babafemi, Executive Director of eTranzact Ghana Limited, had said that the introduction of gh-Link, which is presently Ghana's only approved chip and pin card scheme, is to assist the government's mission to boost the use of local cards for local transactions such as withdrawals from automated teller machines (ATMs) and purchases from point of sale terminals.

Previous to its collaboration with ghIPSS for the introduction of EMV card services, he said, eTranzact had a strong reputation for delivering epayment solutions to large financial institutions such as mobile banking solutions, ATM switching solutions, collection and value-added platforms since it started operating in Ghana in 2005.

Today, Ghana enjoys 100% cashless transactions that are easy and secure. Cashless transactions in Ghana anywhere and any time.
